The Air Force Advanced Manufacturing Olympics (AMO)

October 20, 2020 - October 23, 2020

Good afternoon friends and colleagues! As you may or may not have seen on social media, we are looking for great candidates to participate in the USAF Advanced Manufacturing Olympics (AMO).  The AMO is an exciting week of collaboration, technical design challenges, speakers, and more, all focused on advanced manufacturing. Wherever you are, discover new technologies and insights from thought-leaders across government, industry, academia and small businesses – delivered straight to your digital device.

Technical Challenges – We are looking for qualified applicants (government, industry, academia) to drive innovation in operations and sustainment and compete in following challenges. These skills can make a difference to help design solutions to real-world challenges:

  • Box of Parts – Teams will demonstrate 3D scanning & printing technology’s ability to accurately reengineer a part without an existing plan
  • TDP Relay – Teams will recreate a technical data package while demonstrating accuracy, skill, and completeness
  • Materials Hurdles – Teams will identify and demonstrate new developments in aluminum materials that will demonstrate material properties and provide potential solutions for the Air Force
  • Approval Sprints – Teams will apply innovative methods to accelerate Gov’t approval timelines by identifying creative qualification strategies for new materials, machines, and components. Teams will compete to deliver a polymer additively manufactured replacement solution for rapid deployment of a specified A-16 aircraft component
  • Supply Chain Marathon – Teams will solve an Air Force supply chain problem set – seeking promising, innovative advanced manufacturing basing stratagies and capabilities that can be integrated and quickly fielded to ensure AF readiness goals are met
  • If an interested party does not have a team, they are encouraged to apply for the opportunity to be paired with others
  • Register for the technical challenges at https://www.afrso.com/advanced-manufacturing-olympics/apply-now/
